Dental inlays are a type of restoration that is used to fix teeth that are experiencing mild to moderate decay. Teeth that are cracked or fractured are also good candidates for inlays. All Dental Group provides patients with a wide selection of dental solutions including dental inlays.
When you visit our office in Miami Lakes, Florida, we will first examine your mouth including your teeth and gums to determine the right treatment plan for you. The ideal candidates for dental inlays are those who have teeth or a tooth that has decayed and is no longer suitable for a dental filling procedure.
Inlays are better compared to metal fillings. Inlays are known to be durable since they’re made of tough and long-wearing materials. It can last up to three decades. Furthermore, inlays aid in strengthening teeth by an impressive 75 percent. The downside of metal fillings is that they can reduce the strength of your teeth by up to half its original strength. Inlays can prolong the life of your teeth and even prevent the need for additional dental work in the years to come.
Inlays usually require two appointments. During your first appointment, our dentist will numb the area they will treat using a local anesthetic. Expect the tooth to be drilled then cleaned. The parts that are damaged or decayed will be removed.
Our dentist will then create an impression of your damaged tooth, and it will be sent to a dental lab so that the inlay will be created. In the meantime, a temporary cover or filling will be placed on your tooth to protect it until the second visit which is usually after two to three weeks.
When you return for your second appointment, our dentist will remove the temporary cover and then test to see if the inlay fits well. Once the dentist is confident of the fit, they will bond the inlay to the damaged tooth using a strong adhesive. Your treatment will be completed after the dentist polishes the inlay on your tooth, so it looks aesthetically pleasing.
Our dental staff is highly trained and will handle each procedure with gentle hands. Our objective is to make sure our patients leave the office with healthier and more beautiful teeth.
